SEO content has to do two things at once: answer a question better than the pages already ranking, and fit what search engines can understand. Writingful puts both in one place. You can research keywords with its SEO tools, write an article with your choice of 18 AI models, work your chosen keywords into it with the SEO Optimizer, and add links with the Interlinker.

No tool can promise rankings, and AI makes it easy to publish a lot of pages that do not deserve to rank. Google says AI-generated content is not against its guidelines by itself, but content produced mainly to manipulate rankings, however it is made, can break its spam policies. The pages that do well add something real: original information, clear answers, and evidence that a person stands behind them.

Below you will find what you can do with Writingful for SEO content, example prompts with sample outputs, 20 ideas, and what Google actually says about AI content.

Your prompt

Create a content brief for a blog post targeting the keyword "how to repot a snake plant" (example keyword). Search intent: informational, beginners. Include a working title, a 25-word description of what the reader will learn, an outline with H2 and H3 headings, five questions to answer in an FAQ, and notes on what would make this article better than a generic one. Do not invent statistics.

How to Repot a Snake Plant: A Step-by-Step Guide for Beginners

What the reader will learn: How to tell when a snake plant needs repotting, which pot and soil to use, and how to repot it step by step without damaging the roots.

Outline

  • H2: Signs your snake plant needs repotting. Roots circling or pushing out of the pot; the plant tipping over; soil that dries out very quickly.
  • H2: What you need. Pot size and drainage; well-draining soil; gloves and a tool for loosening roots.
  • H2: Step-by-step: how to repot. H3 for removing the plant, loosening roots, placing it in the new pot, and watering afterward.
  • H2: Aftercare. Light, watering, and what to expect in the first weeks.
  • H2: Common mistakes. Oversized pots, heavy soil, and overwatering.

FAQ questions

  1. How often should I repot a snake plant?
  2. What is the best soil for a snake plant?
  3. Can I repot a snake plant in winter?
  4. Should I water right after repotting?
  5. What size pot should I choose?

How to make it better than a generic article

  • Add your own photos of each step.
  • Include your own experience and what went wrong the first time.
  • Link to your guide on watering and to plant-care resources you trust.

Accuracy and compliance

Using AI for SEO content writing responsibly

SEO content is judged by search engines and by readers. These are the main points to know about AI-assisted SEO writing.

Google does not ban AI content, but it expects quality

Google's guidance says that using generative AI is not inherently against its guidelines, but that it must comply with its spam policies, and that using AI to generate many pages without adding value for users may violate its policy on scaled content abuse. It also says it is critical to manually fact-check and review AI-generated content for accuracy and trustworthiness before publishing.

Scaled content abuse applies however content is made

Google defines scaled content abuse as generating many pages for the primary purpose of manipulating search rankings rather than helping users, typically large amounts of unoriginal content that provides little to no value, no matter how it is created. Do not mass-produce pages from a keyword list. Publish fewer, better pages.

Show who and how

Google encourages you to ask "Who, How, and Why" about your content: it is clear who created it, how it was made, and why. For topics that affect health or money, it says content must be highly accurate and consistent with expert consensus. Add author information and, where readers would expect it, an explanation of how the content was produced.

No tool can guarantee rankings

Rankings depend on competition, links, site quality, and many other factors. Be wary of any promise of position or traffic, including from tools. Measure what you publish, learn from it, and improve it over time.

Keep your own facts and examples in every article

Pages with first-hand detail, such as your own photos, data, and experience, are hard for competitors to copy and useful to readers. Use AI for the structure and the first draft, and add what only you know.

This page is general information about a software product. Writingful cannot guarantee rankings, traffic, or search engine treatment of any content. You are responsible for the accuracy and quality of what you publish.

A practical SEO content workflow with AI

The writers who get results from AI treat it as one step in a process, not as the process. The steps that matter most, choosing the topic and adding original value, are the ones the tool cannot do for you.

Pick topics by intent and difficulty

Look for questions with enough demand and manageable competition. Our guide to content mapping shows how to group keywords into pages and plan a content set instead of a list of posts.

Use a repeatable on-page checklist

Titles, headings, links, images, and structure take a few minutes each and add up. The blog post SEO checklist covers 15 steps you can run on every post.

Edit for people

Search engines reward content that readers like. Read the draft out loud, cut padding, and add examples. Our guide to humanizing AI content and our article on whether Google can detect AI content explain what to focus on.

Report and learn

Check how pages perform each month, and double down on what works. The SEO report template shows what to include, and our guide to choosing an SEO tool explains what different tools do.
